Positive Stories Matter

Hi there, Liz here.

Lately, I’ve been watching the news and scrolling through social media, and let’s be honest—it feels like negativity is everywhere. The focus is on conflict, division, and disappointment. And while it’s important to acknowledge challenges, I believe what we really need right now is hope.

When we hear positive stories—about a neighbor stepping up in a crisis, or a community rallying around a family in need—it does something inside us. It makes us want to act. It unites us. Stories of kindness, courage, and generosity remind us that we’re connected, and that small acts of service can ripple out into something much bigger.

This idea has shaped my life since I was 20, when I went on a mission for my church. My focus then was simple: share a message of love, peace, and hope. I saw firsthand how words and stories could bring genuine joy and even spark real change. It inspired me to want to live differently—to be part of building more positivity in the world.

Now, as a mom of two little girls, that mission feels even more important. Javi and I want to raise them with the understanding that service matters, that helping others isn’t just something you do in emergencies—it’s a way of life. Stories are a powerful teacher in this. They show us what’s possible when we choose to serve.

One memory that has stayed with me is from when I was young. Around the holidays, my dad would take me to deliver turkeys and baskets of food to families in our community who were struggling. I’ll admit, at first I complained—I was cold, I was tired, I wanted to go home. But my dad said, “Let’s help others have a little more joy this year.” That simple act of service taught me something I’ll never forget: serving others changes hearts—ours and theirs.

That’s the ripple effect of positivity. One story of service inspires another. One act of kindness leads to more. And soon, it’s not just individuals changing—it’s whole communities.

At Elko Productions, that’s why we believe in sharing positive, people-first stories. Because when we highlight the everyday heroes in Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington DC, and beyond, those stories don’t just inspire—they move people to act.

The world may feel heavy sometimes, but light spreads faster than darkness. And stories of hope, kindness, and community are proof of that.
